The thing is CNL has been pilot mining for several years and the mining results (grade/recoveries) have exceeded FS estimates. They are doing this to confirm FS and mining methods.
Often it is a factor of scale. Pilot/trial mining is often focused and at a much smaller scale than commercial mining. The problems arise in the transition from small scale (tonnes per day) focused mining where you have supervisors keeping mining and dilution under control to moving to large scale mining on multiple headings to keep feeding the mill. What often happens is that the desire to keep the mill fed means that mining becomes less well controlled and standards drop.

Trail mining is often much more controlled, supervised and mined more carefully than in a full scale mining operation, and the concern is that can they maintain the same level of diligence at full production?
I'd be interested to see/hear your take on Integra Resources' DeLamar and Florida Mountain Gold-Silver project in Idaho. They just released a 206 page NI 43-101 Technical Report on the project. This is the same team that developed the Integra Gold project in Quebec and then sold it to Eldorado Gold.
