Garibaldi - fecked?

1.7m.....
1.7m.....
1.7m....

The height of a fridge, or Tom Cruise

That is the thickness of the New Central Zone (link) according to a nice clarification PR released last Thursday and still hasn't managed to make it to their website.

We got depths, thicknesses, and coordinates, but no map, or any trace of any news from any of the 18 drill-holes (hole 23-40) that must have been drilled between holes EL-18-22 (results released on the 24th Sept (link) and the new zone discovered by EL-18-41 (link)

However, they included some hole info for EL-18-41 so we can see where it is, and you can get the 3D viewer file from here (link)

Correction - I made a mistake in the original viewer file, I put the massive sulfide zone at the bottom of the lower disseminated zone not the upper one. The updated viewer file is here (link). Not much changes.

OMG!!!!!!!! To the shock of no-one, it's located where every other hole has been drilled.I'm guessing they used that cunning geologist trick "let's just turn the rig around and start drilling in the opposite direction"

I jest, the hole was drilled below a new zone of massive sulfide mineralization exposed by the retreating ice field (I've called it the Global Warming zone, and it is a much cooler name than "New Central Zone").

Here is a nice cross-section

You can see that hole 41 hit the massive sulfide almost vertically below the surface outcrop. If this is the case the true width could be a little as 0.5m. Another section

correct section below

The corrected section doesn't change much. The new zone is still narrow, but now 30m rather than 75m below surface, but not exactly open-pitable.

This is quite a busy section, but note:
  1. the massive sulfides in hole 41 are ~75m 30m below the surface outcrop of the Global Warming Zone
  2. Hole 41 appears to be also testing the NW continuation of the Main/Discovery Zone beyond hole EL-17-02, and hit nothing, not even a mention of disseminated mineralization (assuming that this zone is ~horizontal).
  3. In the surface map they talk about a MASU (MAssive SUlfide) bounders in moraine. If you look at the topography, you can see that the Massive Sulfide bounder zone is downhill from the Global Warming zone. This shows that this zone is the source of the bounders and it is unlikely to be anything huge beneath the ice in this area.
To reiterate a point, GGI were very quick at rushing out a PR based on visual observation of the core from hole 41, yet we've heard nothing, not even a mention of anything from holes 23 to 40, why? They are obviously a lot worse than hole 41 and must be shite.

  3. TAG, I keep finding sloppy mistakes in your work. It really does call into question the validity of your conclusions if your presentation of the facts contains errors. Here, the massive sulphide zone is at the bottom of the upper mineralized interval, not the lower one.

I'm very much surprised, also, that a trained scientist would not hold to the aphorism that "The absence of evidence is not evidence for absence." There is no a priori scientific rationale for assuming holes 23 to 40 are shite. The evidence is simply not yet in the public domain.

    2. Get out of here Larry Hoover, this is a website for angry skeptics not brown-nosers who spend all their time defending a company that basically operates via tricks up the sleeves. Not a big difference if the 1.7m of massive sulfides is at the bottom of the upper vs. lower interval, and as for the status of holes 23-40 if they did hit something better than 1.7m of massive sulfides, especially since most of those were drilled away from the E&L zone, and haven't said peep about that, it would be highly irregular and BCSC should slap a long trade halt on their asses.

    3. The location matters because she modeled it wrong, and then came to conclusions about that. There is no regulatory violation in collecting drill results for interpretation before they're released. The labs are backed up too. Nobody gets halted for slow labs.

      Delete
    4. Thank you, I was incorrect, the massive sulfide zone does occur at the base of the 1st not the 2nd disseminated interval

model and post have been updated. It doesn't fundamentally change anything on the interpretation except the depth to the interval. The zone is still narrow and sub-vertical.

But thanks for pointing that out. It would have been nice to have had a nice table showing the intervals.

    5. It actually reduces the significance of the intercept if it is closer to surface so for that reason, and only that reason, it is important.

    6. Thinking like that is naive and will get you slaughtered. Are you suggesting they left out a slew of holes because they're all barn burners? You got played, sorry.

  4. You really overuse that quote Hoover. This release was a restatement done at the demand of IIROC. It's "possible" they are logging holes in reverse and just haven't gotten to holes 23-40 yet (yes, that was sarcasm) but that does not fit their past pattern of selective disclosure. If they had some hot intercepts in earlier holes they would have been shouting it from the rooftops. If they do, and they didn't include it in the last release based on IIROC's demand for clarification, that's almost as bad. Pretty sure IIROC also demanded they specify which hole it was. Hope you're right but its definitely not the most likely outcome.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't overuse it, Eric. I use it once per irrational declaration by other posters. IIROC's clarification request was satisfied, or the press release that we saw would not have been approved. It's pretty clear that you're personally familiar with circles of jerks.

      Delete
    2. And, I'm pretty sure, far more familiar with the people at IIROC. I imagine they would have at least asked them if there were other holes they should be describing as well. If there are better ones in between 22 and 41 that would be both unusual and very much unlike this company's history of disclosing drill holes that were arm wavable pretty much as soon as the last core was pulled from the barrel.

      Delete
    3. I don't know how it would be possible for a rational person to come to any other conclusion Eric, except that GGI has bags full of tricks so we must leave a very small window of possibility open for an insane outcome (i.e. they actually do have a massive sulfide intercept >1.7m in holes 23-40).

      Delete
    4. You all know that IIROC and the BCSC aren't the same right?

      Delete
    5. And? .... Finish your thought. Which is probably irrelevant to the point. The point being that sulfides are readily apparent in drill core, even disseminated sulfides, so selectively disclosing (hole 41 for example) is highly irregular. That's the point so if you are going to say something please stick to it.

    1. The ONLY place they have found significant nickel sulfides at Nickel Mountain are at the contact between highly fractured sediments and gabbro. If you assume this is not a conduit model (an assumption based on evidence) then it is not surprising they are not finding anything at depth.

      Delete
    2. I wonder if it is due to Sulfur or introduced into the system that is precipitating out the Ni and Cu that are in the gabbros, essentially a contact-type mineralization rather than a true ultra-mafic deposit.

      Delete
    3. Yes that is it Angrygeo, the taxitic gabbro has both fragments of country rock and large xenoliths so lots of contact surface. You don't get these extreme tenors of nickel sulfides through magma transport, you can perhaps get it via localized sulfur oversaturation (from the country rocks) and very possibly also reduction (anhydrite in Norilsk/Talnakh, CM in black shale at Nickel Mountain). I think normally this type of contact mineralization when it forms would usually get dispersed or not accumulate but at the E&L zone where there seems to be folded sediments there could be a sort of P-trap with a rotating convection current causing the sulfides to grow essentially like snowballs rolling down a hill ... essentially very high R factors. If so, this is a structural type deposit that formed because of a pretty special set of circumstances, not because the intrusive itself is that special. Elsewhere on Nickel Mountain you could maybe get some sulfides but if R factor was not similar then probably very little if any massive sulfides.

They didn't disclose previous holes because it isn't unusual to get intersects like the "discovery hole" in that area without having enough continuity and tonnage to suggest there might be an economic deposit. That's exactly the opposite of the clowns at GGI who drilled WITHIN a historic RESOURCE ENVELOPE and called it a "DISCOVERY". Dumbass.

    1. LOL you are clueless aren't you? When the "full exploration story" on GGI has been "concluded" then there won't be any reason to discuss anymore because either it will be an economic deposit (unlikely based on the current trajectory, and even if they do "discover" something new it probably won't be an economic deposit of nickel sulfides) or a dud.

That central zone is pretty much surrounded by holes. One would think they have enough pierce points to estimate true thickness. Also, hole #24...the grade on the 10.5 meter width is barely more than the grade on the 4.5 meter width extended over 10.5 meters and assuming zero grade beyond the 4.5 meter section. In other words...the only part of the hole carrying potentially economic mineralization is the 4.5 meter section.

    3. I looked at the location on Google Earth...it's one of the most challengine project locations I've seen. High up on a ridge...no wonder they're fan drilling from only a couple of spots. There's an ice field right behind them and a 1,000 meter drop into a valley right in front of them. Exkay Creek is a few K's east but is inaccessible. The old Snip airstrip and the Forrest Kerr hydro project are also within a few K's but aren't much help for exploration. They must be melting icefield to get drill water.

If they had drilled these holes on one of their other targets, you would have seen the share-price heading back up to $2 as it would increase the potential for the project.

Basically, we're seeing project fatigue and the drilling not meeting the expectations of the project presented by GGI management.
